Faux Pearls - Yes or no

Pearls; one of the world’s most beautiful treasures.

Regardless of the colour they come in, pearls add a regal, sophisticated and glamourous touch to any outfit. Think about it, have you ever seen pearls and not thought they looked super classy.

Coco Chanel was rarely seen without pearls dripping from her neck. Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor are just three more examples of icons who adored the lustre of pearls.

Let’s not forget our more current celebrities though; Kate Middleton, future Queen of the United Kingdom, Duchess of Cambridge and one of the world’s most popular style icon shows us why pearls are associated with elegance, grace and subtle charm.

Scarlett Johansson, shows us that pearls are not just for old Hollywood glamour, they also look incredible with today’s fashion. Whether she pairs her wears her pearls as earrings, necklaces or has them embellished in her skirt; to Scarlett, pearls are here to stay.

Rihanna teaches us that pearls will always work with any outfit! We are in LOVE with her 2012 Victoria Secret look in pearl sunglasses and a pearl choker. Pearls, like diamonds, will work for anybody.

However, sadly for us, natural pearls can get pretty pricey because they are so rare. Now, I don’t know about you…but I can’t be splashing hundreds or even thousands on pearls. Well, lucky for us, faux pearls (imitation peals, fake pearls, whatever you want to call them!) are also a girl’s best friend; they look just as stunning and, let’s be honest, nobody can even tell the difference!

Faux pearls are far more affordable and can actually look more vibrant than the real thing. For our environmentally conscious and/or vegan friends, faux pearls are also much more environmentally friendly than the real thing.

The faux pearl will still give you that glamorous and classic look you desire same way the real pearl will, but at a fraction of the cost – it’s a win-win, right!

Pearls are truly a must-have item for everyone because they give such a classic look. For that reason, we at Devti are HUGE fans of faux pearls for being cheaper and just as beautiful.
